Born in York, my father was moved to Shropshire when I was 12, and I settled in Warrington when I married Rosemary who I met on a Methodist Youth Club holiday. Unlike Mike, I ensured that I lived south of the Ship Canal so I was in Cheshire and not Lancashire!
I have always been a Methodist having come under the influence of my grandmother and became a Sunday School teacher at the age of 15. I currently worship at Stockton Heath Church where I am Deputy Treasurer, Worship Leader and a Property Steward.
I am a Chartered Public Finance Accountant and worked mainly in New Town Development Corporations before moving to Deloitte from which I retired as an Internal Audit Senior Manager in 2010. I am a long serving Trustee of Norton Priory Museum in Runcorn and as well as helping with the accounts and budget, I am now a volunteer assisting with cleaning and documenting the collection, especially the carved stone.
My interests include photographing Methodist chapels, buses and railways, and I am a member of the Thelwall and Grappenhall Model Railway Club (n gauge section).
