Don’t Just Give Up For Lent – Just Give – That was our watchword at Stockton Heath during the season leading up to Easter as, every Sunday for six weeks, the church folk brought a pair of newly- bought socks or pants to hang on the clothes airer!
During our themed month in February entitled ‘Living on the Edge’ we had listened to speakers from five different walks of life, ranging from the world of those attending Gamblers Anonymous to those living with the memories of sexual and physical abuse.
One of the other avenues we explored was the plight of so many refugees in Europe and the Middle East and our response to this was to collect these essential items of clothing as part of our Lent Challenge. They will be sent to charities in Greece and Syria as part of a larger consignment organised from a house in Appleton Park.
As you can see from the photo, the Sunday Club children have been very much part of this challenge too!
